Cataract surgery in children is challenging, because of increased scleral elasticity, thicker corneas, increased risk of trauma from eye rubbing, less compliance with activity restriction, and most importantly the effect of postoperative astigmatism on amblyopia.  

Punctal plugs are tiny, biocompatible devices that can be inserted into tear ducts to block drainage. This increases the eye's tear film and surface moisture to help relieve certain forms of dry eye.  

The Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) is an advanced, thin, clear lens that functions similarly to a contact lens, however it is surgically implanted into the eye. The ICL procedure is a low risk, long-term solution and, as such, is a good option for many patients, especially those under the age of 40.  

Entropion is a condition where the upper or lower eyelid turns inward, rubbing the lashes against the eye, causing the eye to become irritated, red, and sensitive to light and wind. If it is not treated, the condition can lead to pain, tearing, discharge, and irritation associated with decreased vision.
